Preston North End manager refunds fans’ fuel costs after traveling to postponed match
Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match between Bury and Preston North End was canceled just an hour before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch, leaving plenty of fans out of pocket and disappointed.
One minibus full of Preston supporters, however, were lucky enough to run into manager Graham Westley at a gas station on the journey back to Lancashire. Seeing the fans’ disheartenment at their wasted 30-mile journey to Bury’s Gigg Lane, the former non league striker bought everyone on the minibus a Coke and gave them £40 to cover fuel costs (which by British prices, probably covered about six miles! Arf!).
One of the traveling supporters recorded a video of the incident —— which you can watch here if you can withstand a few naughty swear words —— and plenty of fans tweeted about the it too:

It was a very kindhearted gesture from Westley, but in the interest of balance, it should be pointed out that this is the same man who sacked eight of his squad by text message before this season started.
