In England, the collapse of the European Super League was greeted with cheering celebrations across the country.

In the Spanish capital, however, this met with a very different reaction, particularly from Florentino Perez.

The Real Madrid president spoke tenaciously and defiantly about the doomed project, although almost all of the original participants distanced themselves from the plans.

In an interview with El Larguero, Perez lamented the failed proposals and suggested that the teams could not complete the transfers.

“In general there won’t be any big transfers this summer,” he said. “If there is no money from the rich clubs to the poor clubs, everyone suffers.”

“It’s impossible to get signatures like that [Kylian] Mbappe and [Erling] Haaland in general not only for Real Madrid without the Super League. “

But his claims felt more like a desperate attempt to scare off competitors than an honest assessment of the European game.

With Real Madrid out of the biggest transfer races, some of the game’s greatest players could move to the Premier League instead.

Here are five stars that could make it into the top English class this summer.

Kylian Mbappe

PSG star Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Liverpool

“If we don’t sign with Mbappe this summer, no fan will shoot themselves in the head. They know we’re doing our best and if things don’t happen it’s because they’re impossible, ”explained Perez.

However, unless Mbappe signs a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain, it is certain that he will take a step this year, whose contract expires in 2022.

Liverpool are a well-known admirer of the French World Cup winner and while it will be a feast for the eyes, the striker’s signing would help the FSG repair some of the bridges burned during the ESL fiasco.

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland is wanted by a multitude of clubs across Europe but Florentino Perez believes the teams cannot afford him without the money from the European Super League.

Much like Liverpool’s owners, the Glazers at Manchester United are in desperate need of a signature to ease tension between them and the fans.

Signing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ultimate goal would do that and some more.

Haaland has long been touted as the next Galactico at the Bernabeu, but given their financial troubles, it is unlikely they will be able to sign him this summer.

The Norwegian has a release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract that will come into effect next year so that the Germans could look for cash this year.

United, Manchester City and Chelsea could be at the front of the line.

Perez has already ruled out the chances of a Ronaldo reunion in the Spanish capital, but his future at Juventus looks decidedly bleak.

The Italians run the risk of missing out on the Champions League. Should they switch to the Europa League, the chances that he will stay in Turin are slim.

PSG have been suggested as another target for the Portuguese legend but should Neymar be tied to a new deal it could make another big deal difficult.

Recent reports in Italy have suggested that Manchester United is one of two options for Ronaldo to complete an emotional return to Old Trafford.

Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos has yet to sign a new deal with Real Madrid.

The Los Blancos legend is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and Perez has hinted that he won’t sign a new deal at the club.

“It depends on Real Madrid’s situation,” he said of the defender’s future. “This year we’re bringing in 300 million euros less.” We have to sell a player, do things. “

Premier League clubs only need to look at Thiago Silva’s influence at Chelsea to see how much a seasoned defender can bring to a team battling for the top 4.

United have been associated with Ramos for a number of years and could offer Solskjaer a short-term option as a partner for Harry Maguire.

After Man United spent all of last summer chasing the Dortmund winger, many felt the Red Devils had missed the boat.

But 12 months later, with the need for a winger still evident, the new transfer committee could have a second rift to bring him to Old Trafford.

This summer, the Bundesliga club could be ready to part with their star for less money, as there are only two years left for his current contract.

Real Madrid had previously been named as a potential candidate for Sancho, but similar to Haaland and Mbappe, they could be priced out.

Liverpool are another Premier League club that have been linked, which means a move to the Premier League is most likely at this point.
