The summer transfer window has seen record arrivals and statement signings. The Premier League clubs again invested huge sums in their pursuit of success.

Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea for a club record transfer. The Blues also managed to seal Saul Niguez’s loan from Atletico Madrid on the cut-off date.

Cristiano Ronaldo made a sensational return to Manchester United after initially being linked to Premier League rivals Manchester City. While City missed Ronaldo, they got their hands on Jack Grealish and spent a record £ 100million on the England international.

A few Premier League players were unable to secure their desired transfer

A number of leading players have secured dream moves to new pastures. But few saw their potential deals fail before the Tuesday night transfer deadline.

So let’s take a look at the five Premier League players who haven’t made a move from their club this summer.

# 5 Tanguy Ndombele – Tottenham Hotspur

Tanguy Ndombele became Tottenham’s all-time new signing in 2019 when he moved from Lyon to the Premier League club for a £ 55m fee. However, since moving to north London, he has struggled to gain a foothold in the Premier League.

Both former manager Jose Mourinho and current manager Nuno Espirito Santo have questioned the midfielder’s application.

It was reported that Ndombele had requested to leave the club in the last few weeks of the transfer window and Spurs had reluctantly accepted his request. But the £ 200,000-a-week midfielders mammoth made no one consider moving for him.

It now leaves Ndombele in a pickle with the midfielder not even involved in club prep or the season’s Premier League opening games. He will have to make a decision whether to wait for a transfer opportunity elsewhere or to settle down and meddle in Nuno’s plans.

No doubt the Frenchman is exceptionally talented. The Spurs have made a strong start to the Premier League season. And the addition of a dedicated Ndombele to their ranks will give north Londoners a big boost.

# 4 Jesse Lingard – Manchester United

Derby County – Manchester United – Pre-season friendly

Jesse Lingard rejuvenated his career last season after a successful six-month loan in the Premier League with West Ham.

Lingard did not make a single appearance in the Premier League for Manchester United in the first half of the season. But the England international flourished at West Ham and helped the Hammers qualify for the Europa League. In just 16 Premier League games in the capital, he scored nine goals and provided four assists. It also helped him return to the English squad after almost a two-year absence.

It looked like West Ham would make the transfer permanent after Lingard’s successful loan period. But the £ 30million Red Devil price was deemed too high for a player entering the final season of his contract.

The failure of a breakthrough instead led to alternative targets for the Hammers and signed Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow on the last day of the transfer window.

Lingard stays with Manchester United for the time being. But the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho means Lingard’s prospects for first-team football at Old Trafford look bleak.

Jesse Lingard has turned down a new deal with Manchester United.

The former West Ham man is without a contract at the end of the season.

Lingard has found his form after a difficult 18 months on and off the pitch and hopes he won’t be limited to another lengthy break on the bench.
