Journalist Tom Barclay isn’t surprised that players like Liverpool and Manchester United are targeting Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yves Bissouma as everything about his game is “perfect”.

What’s new about Bissouma?

Liverpool made an official request for Bissouma just days before the summer window closed last month, but the Malian international stayed at the Amex Stadium.

It has been alleged that Liverpool, along with Manchester United and Arsenal, could be involved in a three-way battle for the midfielder’s services if the transfer market reopens in January.

The interest of Premier League rivals won’t surprise Brighton after Bissouma ranked himself the top tier midfielder earlier this month.

The 25-year-old also increased speculation about his future after confirming via Metro to Brighton’s in-house media department that his goal is to play in the Champions League and fight for titles.

He has just under two years left on his £ 25,000-a-week contract with the Seagulls, which means Brighton will likely charge a sizable fee if Bissouma’s suitors reaffirm their interest.

What did Tom Barclay say about Bissouma?

Having watched Bissouma closely since joining France for £ 15million more than three years ago, Barclay has seen the central midfielder develop his game.

The journalist considers him the ideal box-to-box star in the Premier League and is struggling to find a negative aspect of his style of play.

As a result, Barclay believes that Bissouma has a great future ahead of him.

He told GMS: “He’s improved in every game. In every game I watch him, he’s pretty much flawless.

“He’s a brilliant box-to-box player, has so much energy, goes into tackles, has a shot at him, a good pass and movement. Everything is perfect.”

Who else holds Bissouma in high esteem?

Shortly before the end of last season, former England striker Gary Lineker praised Bissouma as an “exceptional footballer” on social media.

Before Brighton’s win over Leicester City last weekend, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers praised Bissouma’s physicality and defensive work for the Seagulls.

Bissouma will face arch-rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday, just nine games away from 100 Premier League games.

Despite speculation about his future, Bissouma clearly remains in Brighton boss Graham Potter’s plans as he has started all five of the Seagulls top games so far.
