Claret Women Kickstart Campaign at Sheffield FC on August 15th
The FA Women’s National League has released the fixtures for the 2021/22 season, with Burnley FC Women traveling to Sheffield FC on Matchday 1.
After the Sheffield trip on Sunday 15th August, the women have a tough series of back-to-back games against the youngest top clubs Nottingham Forest, Fylde, Derby and Huddersfield.
Burnley FC Women Manager Matt Bee said, “We are all excited for the league to start and now the games have been announced, this is a real focus for the team and me.
“The last two seasons were canceled prematurely due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so we hope that everything goes well and that we can conclude the season this year.
“As always, it’s a tough league. Huddersfield and Fylde had really strong campaigns last year and the league additions Wolves and Brighouse Town will both be really tough games.
“We are looking forward to the first game of the season away in Sheffield and will work hard in the coming weeks to keep us focused and ready for a positive start.”
The claret women play in the FA Women’s National League, the third division of women’s football, and have had great ambitions since joining Burnley FC.
The club announced a long-term strategy to promote women’s football in February with the aim of increasing the team’s presence, infrastructure and investments.
