Celtic is in talks to sign Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, SBI editor-in-chief Larry Henry Jr. reports

What is the latest Cameron Carter-Vickers transfer news?

The journalist reveals that three teams are interested in signing the center-back; Newcastle, Bournemouth – where the player took the second half of last season on loan – and Celtic. He goes on to reveal that Newcastle’s offer will be hanging on the finances, Celtic has spoken to Tottenham about a deal and Bournemouth recently revived its interest in the 23-year-old.

How has Carter-Vickers done this season?

Carter-Vickers has borrowed much of his Tottenham career, with stints at Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke City, Luton and most recently Bournemouth.

The eight-time US international performed well at Vitality Stadium, playing 26 games and scoring one goal.

As shown on WhoScored, Carter-Vickers stood out on defense, ending the tenure with the club’s second highest clearances per game, third most blocks, and fifth most interceptions.

Are Spurs Happy To Let Carter-Vickers Go?

Despite performing well during his time at Bournemouth, Carter-Vickers appears to be leaving Tottenham.

Football.London claimed earlier this week that the defender is expected to leave the London club during the summer transfer window as Tottenham seeks to make changes to their squad following the arrival of football director Fabio Paratici and first-team manager Nuno Espirito in Santo.

What about Carl Sternenfelt?

Should Celtic’s reported talks with Carter-Vickers come to an acceptable conclusion and he joins the hoops, it will be interesting to see if the deal affects other transfer deals.

The Bhoys were recently linked to a £ 4m offer for Rubin Kazan defender Carl Starfelt but that looks unlikely to see Carter-Vickers move to Glasgow. Celtic needs central defenders.

Of the center-backs who have been at the club this season, Shane Duffy has returned to Brighton, Christopher Jullien is still out with a knee injury and Kristoffer Aier’s future at the club is questionable 15m rating on the player.

This means that only Stephen Welsh and Nir Bitton as well as the latest addition Ozase Urhoghide will stay fit if Ajer leaves before the transfer window closes.

Celtic can’t allow this situation to happen – players need to be hired to replace those who are no longer at the club. It could be Carter-Vickers and it could be Starfelt.

If Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou wants to sign the duo, the hoops should make the deals.
