26 teams automatically qualified for the group stage of the Champions League via their 2020/21 league place, while six other teams book their places after the play-offs on Wednesday.

The 32 teams will be divided into four seed pots for the draw on Thursday.

Pot 1 consists of the defending champion Chelsea, the Europa League winner Villarreal and the champions of the six top-ranked nations that did not qualify via one of the continental titles in 2020/21. Pots 2 to 4 are determined by the club coefficient ranking.
