Chelsea have been in great shape since Thomas Tuchel took office but the German believes the squad can still be improved. The blues are looking for clever additions this summer and Tuchel is particularly keen to add a new number nine to his team.
Olivier Giroud is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and Timo Werner struggled in his first season so Tuchel’s desire to step up his attacking power is justified.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the top transfer news from Chelsea on June 23, 2021.
Chelsea identify Erling Haaland alternative
Chelsea have identified Gerard Moreno as an alternative to Erling Haaland, Mirror said of Fichajes. The Blues are eager to strike a deal for the Norwegian striker but if they fail they will turn their attention to the Villarreal star.
Haaland is expected to cost around £ 150 million this summer, and competition for his signature is heating up. As such, Tuchel ponders his options and is fascinated by Moreno.

The Spaniard scored 30 goals and 11 assists from 46 appearances in all competitions last season and could be available for £ 36million this summer. The 29-year-old is currently on the road with the Spanish team at Euro 2020 and managed to attract attention despite missing a penalty against Poland.
Moreno is expected to be a short term fix to Chelsea’s search for a new number nine. His arrival is unlikely to end the club’s hunt for Erling Haaland, which could be available for around € 75million next summer.

However, the report also claims that the Blues have very little chance of securing the player’s signature. Despite the player’s desire for a new challenge, Bayern are firmly convinced that their valued capital will not leave the club this year.
