“Repulsed”

Sheffield United have “pushed back” Derby County’s interest in Billy Sharp, it is alleged.

The Rams want to expand their roster in the final week of the transfer window.

Football Insider yesterday reported that a “recruiting source” had contacted the Premier League club to sign the 34-year-old.

Now the Football Insider says Derby’s approach has been rejected.

Loan movement

Chelsea defender Abdul Baba Rahman is on the verge of loaning out to Greek club PAOK, Football.London reports.

The 26-year-old has been closely linked to Derby County, Watford and Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window and again with the Rams last month.

A move to Derby was always unlikely at the time as they’d left Craig Forsyth and Lee Buchanan behind.

THE TIME IS RUNNING

The time is running. There are five days left after today before the January transfer window closes at 11:00 p.m. on Monday.

So far, Derby County defenseman Mike te Wierik (to Groningen) and midfielder Duane Holmes (to Huddersfield Town) have left the club, while striker Jack Marriott returned to Sheffield on Wednesday to complete his full season loan.

Isaac Hutchinson of the U23 squad has loaned out Forest Green Rovers and 16-year-old Kaide Gordon will join Liverpool.

Millwall is keen on George Evans, although it would be puzzling why Derby would consider or allow a seasoned player who can act in defense or midfield to leave the non-biggest mid-season squad unless it is , the buying club or a replacement is pending.

Wayne Rooney has made it clear that he wants to join the roster. The Rams manager has his goals in a row as he indicated, and strengthening the attack department and the heart of the defense is considered a priority.

Asked at the weekend if he was still confident of making new signings, Rooney said: “Yes, but like I said, you never know in football. Where we are right now, I’m confident we can bring the players in pretty quickly.”

But it remains quiet on the entrance front, apart from speculation, of which there is always plenty during the transfer window.
