Barcelona return to La Liga in 18th place in a crucial Sunday meeting against the Elche.

In another frustrating season, Barca find themselves in a trivial place after a sluggish start to the season. However, the Catalans have been reinventing themselves since early December to find positive form.

The side led by Ronald Koeman have found themselves in an unbeaten streak of eight league games since their 2-1 loss to Cadiz last month. The Spanish giant doesn’t want another slip as they are fourth and 10 points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona will be without their talisman Lionel Messi, who was suspended for two games after hitting an opponent in the Spanish Super Cup final against Athletic Bilbao.

To skip the ladder, Koeman and Co. meet Elche, who is at the end of the league with up to six defeats in the last 17 games of the season.

Elche ended 2020 with a 1-1 draw against league champions Real Madrid. However, in a sad start to the year, Los Franjiverdes failed to win any of their games that year while knocking out the Copa Del Rey against Rayo Vallecano.

The recent clashes with Barca do not benefit them either as they have suffered losses in their last five meetings.
