England are a common favorite, winning their first major international tournament since 1966 at this year’s European Championship.

Gareth Southgate’s team will play a number of matches on home soil at Wembley and the one-year postponement of the tournament due to Covid has given England’s up-and-coming talent extra time to develop.

What are the latest squad developments?

Uefa have confirmed that the nations can now nominate a 26-man squad for the tournament, three more than the usual quota, which could make some of Gareth Southgate’s selection decisions a little easier.

Right now, Southgate is eagerly waiting to see if Harry Maguire, Jack Grealish and Jordan Henderson are fit enough to make it due to injury concerns.

Southgate will be naming their final squad on Tuesday 25th May, but a potential problem could be the number of players involved in the European finals with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City. The Europa League final will take place on May 26th, the Champions League final on May 29th.

England will face Austria and Romania in their final warm-up matches on June 2nd and 6th.
