What is the latest Maitland-Niles transfer news?

It has been reported that the Toffees have already reached out to Arsenal and offered to sign the 24-year-old on a temporary basis, with the option to buy Maitland-Niles on a permanent basis in the future.

The Gunners are believed to be considering Everton’s proposal before making their decision on whether to broadcast Maitland-Niles borrowed or not.

What is Maitland-Niles’ current situation at Arsenal?

Maitland-Niles is capable of operating in central midfield or as a right-back, but he is not currently the first choice in any of those positions at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta has instead chosen to play Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard in front of him in the middle of the park this season, while Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares have been given the opportunity to make the right-back their own place.

The five-cap England international has only played one game from the bench in the league this season and it’s hard to imagine he’ll become a regular on the team in the coming weeks.

Who else did Everton sign this summer?

If Maitland-Niles joins Goodison Park, he would be Everton’s fifth signing of the summer.

The club have added wingers Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend to their squad and have also brought in goalkeeping duo Asmir Begovic and Andy Lonergan.

However, they haven’t strengthened their midfield or defense. That could change with the signing of Maitland-Niles as he can fill different positions in these two areas of the pitch.

Did Dominic Calvert-Lewin score on his Premier League debut for Everton?

Yes No

Would he be a good addition to Everton’s squad?

Maitland-Niles may have to wait patiently to get into the Everton Starting line-up given the fact that they currently have a strong midfield pair of Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure – the former provided an assist against Brighton at the weekend – while club captain Seamus Coleman continues to be a solid performance as right-back.

Nevertheless, Maitland-Niles has had good experiences for his age, he has already played 80 games in the top division and also represented his country on an international level.

His versatility could be vital for Everton as his ability to fill a range of roles could allow Rafael Benitez to switch squads during busy times of the season without necessarily weakening his squad.

With that in mind, Maitland-Niles would be a good addition to Everton’s side and could help the team move forward after the unbeaten start to the season.
