The Leicester City players have been incredibly rewarding for the FPL managers in DGW19 after two strong performances helped them beat both Southampton and Chelsea 2-0.
They are now unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions and are in a comfortable third place – two points ahead of the top and four points ahead of fourth-placed Liverpool.
Much of their success in recent weeks has been thanks to the remarkable form of midfielder James Maddison (£ 7.2m) who has emerged as one of Leicester’s standout players.
With that in mind, we’re examining if the time has come to invest in James Maddison for your FPL team …
Why James Maddison?
In his last three weeks of play, Maddison has returned 27 FPL points thanks to his formidable form. He has now scored four goals and has made two assists in his last five games in all competitions.
The 24-year-old also showed a good performance against Tottenham a month ago and was unlucky to get away with no goal or support. The midfielder has scored a total of six goals this season and continues to be the driving force behind Leicester’s stellar season.
Now that he’s back to a regular with Brendan Rodgers, the team is relying on him to create scoring opportunities. He does 1.9 shots per game and makes 1.9 key passes which shows his influence within this Foxes team.
With Jamie Vardy injured from a hernia over the next several weeks, Leicester will be relying on Maddison to supply them in the attack, making him a potentially lucrative FPL asset.
Great returns in the upcoming games
After two impressive wins against Southampton and Chelsea, Leicester will be preparing to travel to a good Everton side on Wednesday. While this may be a difficult game for the Foxes without Vardy, there are potential returns on attack for Maddison.
Everton have only two clean sheets in their last seven games in all competitions, beating Sheffield United and Sheffield on Wednesday.
Maddison definitely has the potential to take advantage of the Toffees defense, especially from set pieces where Everton usually struggles.
Leicester then host Leeds United (H), which have the second worst defensive record in the league, followed by a trip to Fulham (A) and Wolves (A), both of whom are battling for consistent form.
Leicester and Maddison definitely seem to have what it takes to get out of these games with goals and offensive returns.
Are you going to add Maddison to your team?
With that in mind, James Maddison is definitely a solid fantasy asset to consider for your FPL team ahead of GW20.
Owned by 10% of FPL managers, a percentage that has grown dramatically in recent weeks, it is also available for £ 7.2m, which makes it a pretty cheap option in midfield.
With Kevin De Bruyne injured and Marcus Rashford and Wilfried Zaha both in doubt, James Maddison could be your perfect midfielder replacement option.
With the form he’s in, he could be a hard-to-ignore player for the game to come.
