The London-based player’s victory was secured by a 20-foot birdie putt from Harris English to win the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour.

An England fan has won over £ 1 million on a £ 11.50 bet after correctly supporting a series of six golf and soccer results at odds of over 90,000 to one.

With odds of 35 to one, the American golfer won the tournament on Sunday with a 20-foot birdie putt on the eighth hole of a play-off.

“I thought I was going to have a heart attack when the putt went, I couldn’t believe it,” said the anonymous sports fan after his victory.

“I enjoyed watching football so I recorded a few European Championship games and I watch a lot of golf.

“I was sure Hovland, Korda and Steve Stricker were good bets, but I was a little unsure of Harris English.”

The player said he plans to spend his winnings taking “a few months” off work to travel with his partner.

“I also enjoy golf and would like to take some friends over to the US to play TPC Sawgrass,” he added.

“Hopefully I can celebrate even more if England beats Germany. I think it’s going to be a great game and I think England will put the demons to bed and win 2-1. “
