Genius Sports Group has entered into a live data and integrity partnership with the Malaysian Football League (MFL).

Under the agreement, Genius will operate the MFL’s first live data acquisition and distribution platform, covering the league’s largest competitions, including Liga Super, Piala FA and Piala Malaysia.

Live game statistics are made available via an automated social media publisher service, live widgets and the MFL’s other media platforms.

Genius will also use accredited statisticians to run Football LiveStats at all League Super games and the Piala Malaysia knockout stages. This collects advanced team and player statistics, including shooting positions, templates and maps with detailed explanations.

In addition, Genius has launched a new integrity program to protect MFL competitions from the threats of match fixing and corruption related to betting. This includes the Genius Bet Monitoring System, personal workshops and a tailor-made integrity check service.

“When live data is readily available in digital formats, it improves the fans ‘experience as well as their knowledge of the games and competitions as they are played,” said MFL managing director Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan.

“This will further expand the dimensions of the competitions, players and teams.”

Mohamed Feizel, Senior Commercial Partnerships Manager for Asia at Genius, added, “Live data and statistics are a key part of the modern fan experience, especially as most of the world’s football is still played behind closed doors.

“In collaboration with the MFL, we want to provide their fans with interesting updates before, during and after each game, while at the same time providing a platform to expand their global audience.”
