No. 5 Georgia built on its lead in the third quarter and is now in the driver’s seat for one of the best wins any college football playoff contender could hope for in Week 1 against No. 3 Clemson in Charlotte. The Bulldogs lead 10-0 and were able to maintain both a potentially bone-breaking interception by JT Daniels and defensive penalties that helped DJ Uiagalelei and the Tigers’ offense extend drives that otherwise stuttered.

Still, Georgia were the more impressive team after 45 minutes of game action, and that’s reflected across the board. Clemson has been kept to less than 100 yards offensive, and Uiagalelei has barely completed half of his attempts with 13 out of 25 passes for 111 yards (4.4 yards per attempt). Clemson’s defense did their part to make things difficult for Daniels and Georgia, especially on the ground, but the inability to complement those efforts with long, productive drives has kept this game further and further away from the Tigers towards Kirby Smart and Bulldogs.
