Boss opens summer transfer in Leicester City

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has revealed how selling Jannik Vestergaard to Leicester City helped him reshape his Saints roster.

Vestergaard to City and Danny Ings to Aston Villa sales totaled £ 40million last month, some of which the Saints reinvested to create depth rather than like-for-like replacements.

It enabled them to include Adam Armstrong, Romain Perraud, Lyanco, Valentino Livramento and Thierry Small and complete Theo Walcott’s permanent signing during the summer transfer window.

City were forced to switch for the Danish international after central defender Wesley Fofana broke his fibula in the club’s final friendly against Villarreal.

New transfer claim for 15 million euros man in the middle of the Leicester connection

Leicester City-affiliated defender Mouctar Diakhaby is expected to be available in the January transfer window as Valencia look to “sell” the center-back.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to City and Newcastle United in recent months, with reports in Spain suggesting that Leicester would be the player’s preference.

This season he was ousted from the Valencia starting line-up by summer newcomer Omar Alderete, who played the first three La Liga games of the season alongside former Arsenal man Gabriel Paulista.

Diakhaby played in all three games, but only as a late substitute for a total of 12 minutes before the international break.

Leicester City fans react linked as Euro 2020 winners

Leicester City fans have reacted to the latest transfer rumors linking them to a move for Italian international Domenico Berardi.

Yesterday (Thursday) reports from the Italian peninsula showed City had “deep” contact via the winger who is currently playing his trade for Sassuolo.

The 27-year-old has not played domestically since the European Championship final against England, but was featured in Roberto Mancini’s side’s three World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

Berardi started the 0-0 win against Switzerland and came off the bench in a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria and a 5-0 win against Lithuania.

Steve Bruce makes Leicester City transfer entry

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has admitted that Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury was “one of the few” who saw the Magpies as summer transfer targets.

Choudhury was due to complete a loan move to Tyneside – a re-run of an earlier attempt in January – but Leicester and Newcastle could not agree on the terms of the move.

The discussions lasted late into the deadline when both sides tried to seal a deal, but neither side was willing to deviate from their expectations.

City reportedly tried to compromise Choudhury’s wages and a loan fee to get the move across the line, but a deal never came off.

That’s what Bruce told reporters.
