Southampton and Newcastle are keen to sign Manchester United defender Brandon Williams on loan ahead of the new season.

The youngster is reportedly open to a break from the Red Devils as he has only played 14 games in the 20-21 campaign due to the arrival of Alex Telles and Luke Shaw’s good form.

A loan to Southampton for the full-back is a “possibility”, according to talkSport, and Newcastle have put him on a shortlist.

These aren’t the only clubs trying to get him to have a spell on their side, however, as newly promoted Norwich City and West Ham are said to have thrown their hats in the ring as well.

Brandon Williams could be loaned out next season

And it’s clear to see why the teams want to sign him as the 20-year-old has already won international matches for England at U20 and U21 levels.

Williams joined United at the age of seven and advanced through the academy.

His loan deal is just one of many deals being arranged behind the scenes at Old Trafford as the club look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 21/22 season.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still on the hunt for his first trophy since taking over the club in 2018 after coming close with a second place finish in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final to Villarreal last season .

The club’s goals include Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

While the Sancho deal appears to be moving forward, United rival Manchester City reportedly put in a £ 100m bid for Kane on Monday.

However, it is likely that no deal will be reached on the English captain while the team is still in the European Championship.

The tournament will run until July 11th and Gareth Southgate’s team have just qualified for the round of 16 with one game to go.

England defeated Croatia 1-0 and drew 0-0 with Scotland to secure their entry into the knockout phase.
