Eduardo Camavinga is open to joining the Premier League this summer due to Manchester United’s interest, sources told ESPN.

United are checking to see if Camavinga was made aware of his possible Rennes exit during this transfer window.

The 18-year-old midfielder still has a year of contract and if the French don’t agree to an exit, they risk losing a star next summer for free.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add a midfielder to his squad but is aware of the need to carefully manage the club’s transfer funds for the rest of the time.

United have already pledged € 85m to get Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and remain interested in Real Madrid center-back Raphael Varane alongside Camavinga.

Right-backs Kieran Trippier and Max Aarons are also on their radar. According to sources, United will not sign Trippier if their club Atletico Madrid demand that their release clause of more than € 40million be respected.

Sources have told ESPN that United believe they will have to fight for Camavinga’s signature against Paris Saint-Germain and Real, although his relatively low rating makes him a more realistic target than West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice this summer.

Rice has so far refused to sign a new deal with West Ham, but with a deal through at least 2024, it’s still valued at more than £ 80 million.

Sources have told ESPN that Jesse Lingard, who was successfully loaned out at West Ham last season, would not be interested in being used as an intermediate weight in negotiations to move Rice to Old Trafford.
