Jack Grealish became the most expensive incoming Premier League player after signing a £ 100m deal for Manchester City.
The English midfielder moved from Aston Villa to the Etihad Stadium to overtake Paul Pogba as the most expensive player in the English premier league at the time.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge when Chelsea tried to add the Premier League title to the Champions League crown they won last season.

Pogba returned to Old Trafford in 2016 after leaving the club on a free transfer to join Juventus. The 28-year-old French international scored 34 goals in 178 appearances for the Italian side before returning to the Red Devils for a record-breaking fee.

Before Grealish, Maguire was the most expensive English player of all time after leaving King Power Stadium for Old Trafford in 2019. The 28-year-old also became the most expensive defender after breaking Virgil Van Dijk’s £ 75m record when the Dutchman joined Liverpool a year earlier. Maguire played over 100 games for the Red Devils and was captain under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lukaku joined Manchester United after spending four seasons at Everton. The Belgian international made 96 appearances in two seasons at Old Trafford before limiting his playing time under Solskjaer. The striker was finally sold to Inter Milan in the summer of 2019.
Virgil Van Dijk – Southampton to Liverpool, £ 75m

After months of speculation, Van Dijk sealed his move to Anfield in January 2018 for a reported £ 75m to put an end to Liverpool’s defensive troubles. The Dutch international made an immediate impact helping the Reds win the Champions League after reaching consecutive finals and ending their 30-year losing streak to be crowned English champions.
Jadon Sancho – Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United, £ 73m

Sancho went through the academy on the blue side of Manchester before moving to the Bundesliga in 2017 to play for Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old scored 50 goals in 137 games for the German team and reached the Euro 2020 final with England before signing for £ 73m for City rivals.
