LAS CRUCES – Local high school soccer teams released their spring plans on Wednesday.
After the season has been postponed several times, the teams will eventually return to the field for three games per game, followed by a bowl game that will take place at a later date.
Here’s a look at the spring schedule for 2021.
Las Cruces Bulldawgs

Summary: Las Cruces took a 9-3 lead last season before reaching the 6A state quarter-finals.
The team will now begin its new campaign with a classic matchup against Mayfield on March 13th.
The Bulldawgs won a 21:18 win over their rivals in 2019 and are now faced again, despite Mayfield dropping to 5A in the off-season.
Las Cruces then has to prevail on the 19th against Oñate. The Bulldaws defeated the Knights 49-7 last season.
Finally, the team will face Centennial on March 26th. The Hawks finished second in the district standings last season, and it was the Bulldawgs who came out with a 35:18 win over the two teams.
Mayfield Trojans

Summary: Mayfield took the lead 7-4 last season and two of his opponents on this season’s schedule are known despite having dropped to 5A.
The Trojans begin their abridged campaign on March 13 with a rivalry against Las Cruces. The competition will be held at the Field of Dreams, not New Mexico State’s Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Mayfield faces Deming on March 20th. The Wildcats took a 10-3 lead last season and made it to the 5A semi-finals before falling to Roswell.
Eventually, Mayfield will face Oñate on March 27th. The Trojans won a 28-3 win against the Knights last season.
Centennial Hawks

Summary: Centennial went 10-2 and reached the 6A quarter-finals last season.
The team will now begin their new campaign with a rivalry against Oñate on March 12th. The Hawks had a convincing 51-0 win against the Knights last season.
Centennial then has to travel to Socorro on March 20 to get revenge on Cleveland. The storm brought the Hawks out of the playoffs last season with a 21:16 win.
Finally, Centennial meets Las Cruces on March 26th. The Bulldawgs defeated the Hawks just for the top spot in the district rankings last season.
Oñate Knights

Summary: Oñate is looking to improve on last season’s 1-9 record.
The Knights begin their new game on March 12th with a game against Centennial. The competition is held at the Field of Dreams rather than the Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Oñate will meet Las Cruces on March 19th. The Knights fell to the Bulldawgs at 49-7 in 2019.
Eventually, the team met Mayfield on March 27th. The Trojans defeated the Knights 28: 3 last season.
