Sky Sports and the BBC have announced which Women’s Super League games they will broadcast by mid-October.
In March, a “groundbreaking” broadcast contract for WSL was announced. The pay-TV broadcaster Sky Sports was granted the rights to broadcast up to 44 games per season for the next three years, while the BBC undertook to show 22 live games per season.
Each broadcaster has now announced which games it will show on the five opening weekends of the season.
Which WSL matches does Sky Sports show?
Sky Sports shows all 12 WSL clubs in the first five game rounds. They broadcast the opening game of the season – Manchester United v Reading on Friday 3rd September. This is followed by the duel between Arsenal and defending champion Chelsea on September 5th in the Emirates.
The game between West Ham and Aston Villa on September 11th will be televised on Sky Sports, along with Manchester City against Tottenham on September 12th. The following weekend, Everton will air against Birmingham on September 25th and Arsenal against Manchester City on September 26th.
Next up are Chelsea against Brighton on October 2nd and Birmingham against Manchester United on October 3rd. Sky Sports also reveals that WSL newbies Leicester and Arsenal will face Everton on October 9th from Chelsea.
Sky Sports recently announced its current line-up for the new season. Caroline Barker was named as the lead host, while Lionesses and Chelsea legend Karen Carney joined as the lead expert.
Lynsey Hooper and Seb Hutchinson have also joined the team for WSL coverage.

Which WSL matches does the BBC broadcast?
The BBC shows five games during the opening phase of the season. Everton’s game against Manchester City on September 4th will be the first game of the campaign on free TV when it is shown on BBC One.
BBC Two will then broadcast Chelsea against Everton on September 12th, followed by Manchester United against Chelsea on September 26th.
Aston Villa’s game against Arsenal on October 3rd will be broadcast on BBC Two and BBC One will air an exciting derby between Manchester United and Manchester City on October 9th.

Where are the WSL matches held?
The majority of next season’s WSL games will be played in the teams’ home stadiums. Arsenal, for example, play at Meadow Park in Borehamwood, while Chelsea play at Kingsmeadow in Kingston upon Thames.
However, several games have been selected to be played in the main stadiums of the clubs. Spurs will play their first game of the WSL season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and face Birmingham City on September 4th. Goodison Park hosts Everton and Manchester City on the same day.
Arsenal face Chelsea in the Emirates on September 5, followed by Brighton & Hove Albion against West Ham at Amex on the same day.
Later in the season, Aston Villa and Arsenal will play Villa Park on October 3, while the Gunners will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates in March for the North London Derby.
