Giorgio Chiellini has claimed that England had an easier way to the final because of their home advantage.

England have played six of their seven games at Wembley so far, more games in front of their compatriots than any other team, including Italy, which has played a few games in Rome.

Chiellini spoke ahead of the Euro 2020 final on Sunday, when England will play again at Wembley, and the 36-year-old Juventus defender may have been engaging in some mind games, especially since he also suggested that Gareth Southgate’s side do not play an attractive style of football.

Key players, battles? Predictions? – Within Europe via Italy against Spain

“They may not be easy on the eye, but they are hard to beat,” he began.

“I immediately thought England would be a serious candidate for the European Championship. They have quality and physicality, are solid and organized.

They reached the semi-finals at the World Cup, and it was foreseeable that England would be in the final of the European Championship as they played six out of seven games on home soil.

Chiellini believes Harry Kane is England’s greatest threat as they advance to the finals and is also aware of the danger any Three Lions attacker could pose.

“Kane is a player I’ve always loved,” added Chiellini.

“I remember one of his first international matches in Turin and it immediately made a good impression on me. We were lucky enough to play against Tottenham so I know him well.

“Not only are England Kane, they also have exceptional players attacking on the wings. Your bank alone could win the European Championship, like Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Phil Foden yesterday.

“It’s going to be a great football game, neither side will be scared and we will both respect each other.”
