Watford goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg has joined Doncaster Rovers on loan.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper has been on loan to League One for a season before the start of the new EFL season, which begins tomorrow.

Dahlberg was allowed to move to Yorkshire on loan to further his development and hopefully gain more first-team experience as his options were limited on Vicarage Road.

Since joining the Hornets in January 2018, the Swedish goalkeeper has still had to play in the first team for the club.

He was loaned to IFK Göteborg and BK Hacken in Sweden but is now on loan in England to gain more experience in English play.

With the move to Doncaster Rovers, Dahlberg will become the second Watford player on loan at Keepmoat Stadium, with the goalkeeper moving to Tiago Cukur in League One, which is managed by Richie Wellens.

Dahlberg has international experience with Sweden as he has played for the U17, U19 and U21.

He is the second goalkeeper Watford has loaned out this week, following in the footsteps of Dante Baptiste, who joined Farnborough from the Southern League after signing a new deal with the Hornets.

Watford has no shortage of goalkeeping departments ahead of the new season as Ben Foster, Daniel Bachmann, Rob Elliott and Adam Parkes are all on the Hornets’ books.
