Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Leeds, have all been informed by FIFA that they will not be able to pick their Brazilian stars for Premier League matches this weekend.
This comes after an ongoing dispute between the club and the country where clubs refused to approve players for this international window due to matches being played in Red List countries.
Brazil should play three World Cup qualifiers during the break, the last game against Peru on Friday.
Brazil and much of South America are currently on the UK red list, so players who have traveled would have been quarantined for 10 days upon their return.

Any Brazilian player who participated would have missed two rounds in the Premier League, a UEFA Champions League or Europa League group game and a Carabao Cup draw in the third round as the game against Peru took place so late in the international break.
The Premier League took a unanimous stance to support any club that has decided not to release players as FIFA decided not to extend its temporary release exemption for those who will need to be quarantined from international service upon their return .
Due to ongoing public health concerns related to incoming travelers from Red List countries, no exemption was granted by the UK government, leaving the clubs with no choice but to insist that their players stay in the UK.
The current FIFA regulations stipulate that players who do not register for international appearances can expect a five-day ban and cannot be selected by their club during this time.

Everton has escaped penalty due to the club’s good relations with the Brazilian Federation and will face Richarlison against Burnley on Monday.
This is also because Richarlison represented his nation at both the Copa America and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this summer.
The striker won Olympic gold with Brazil last month and returned in time for the Premier League’s first game.

Liverpool will do without Fabinho, Alisson and Roberto Firmino, Chelsea cannot claim Thiago Silva, Leeds will not have Raphinha, City cannot choose Ederson or Gabriel Jesus and United will do without Fred.
Should one of the clubs ignore the rule, Article 22 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code provides that they can abandon the game 3-0 if ineligible players are used.
Chile, Mexico and Paraguay have also asked FIFA to implement their five-day rule, which affects other Premier League clubs such as Watford, Wolves and Newcastle.
